Snore Guards
An oral appliance is a small acrylic device that fits over the upper and lower teeth or tongue (similar to an orthodontic retainer or mouth guard). This device slightly advances the lower jaw or tongue, which moves the base of the tongue forward and opens the airway. This improves breathing and reduces snoring and apnea. The appliance is fabricated and customized for each patient by Dr. Rosenbusch. The appliances are comfortable and well tolerated by the patients. They are easy to place and remove, easy to clean and are convenient for travel.
Night Guards
Bruxim is the clenching together of both the upper and lower teeth. Clenching your teeth together can put pressure on the muscles, tissue, and other surrounding structures of the jaw and can cause jaw joint disorders, headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, ear pain, tense muscles, and excessive wear on the teeth. These symptoms together generally refer to temperomandibular joint disorder (TMD).
A night guard can be a simple and affordable solution for protecting your teeth and jaws from the damaging effects of bruxism. If necessary, Dr. Rosenbusch may recommend a night guard to protect against damage to your mouth. These guards will be custom made to fit your mouth structure and when wore properly will reduce symptoms associated with TMD.
